GE ad is adorable, if factually incorrect
This ad by GE makes me smile every time I watch it. I love the way the tree scurries across the road and fauns over the house.
However, I think GE forgot that trees actually need CO2 to live. It's not trees that are the direct beneficiary of reducing emissions. It's us.

Except that GE is one of the largest polluters in the United States. They are responsible for 3 of the top 10 largest superfund sites in America. They are now trying to be enviormentally friendly but the american taxpayer is paying to clean up their past pollutin mistakes.

Do you really think GE cares about the environment? They care more about the bottom line. For example: the CFL bulbs may save energy but they cost more and made with toxic mercury so they can't be disposed of like normal light bulbs. If you break one, you need to call a hazardous waste company to your house at $2,000 a pop.
This clip is purely a propaganda tool to green wash viewers. Entertaining clip, that's about it.

Both of those comments are fair. GE is certainly a controversial company. Being the largest representative of the old energy guard, much of how we're able to move forward depends greatly on how they are able to reinvent themselves as a company.
Globalgirl, I wouldn't make the argument that they hate the Earth because they make CFLs though. If we could snap our fingers and magically put CFLs in every light fixture in the world, we may have some mercury problems yes, but we would seriously slow global warming and save countless lives in the process. They are also on the forefront of solar, wind, and LED technology.
I'm not arguing on behalf of GE, but sometimes these matters aren't as cut and dry as they seem.
