Wal-Mart giving away 1 million reuseable bags on Earth Day
Earth Day is this Saturday, April 19th. In response, Wal-Mart is giving away a stunning one million reuseable shopping bags at their stores.
If you want one, show up at 8am at your local store.
But if you miss it, don't worry too much. The bags are available for just $1 at Wal-Mart the rest of the time.

I wonder how much good this move is really going to do. What if over half of those free bags end up in the hands of people who could care less about the environment? I bet most of them end up in the landfill. They should just sell em all at their $1 price to get them in the hands of customers who actually want one.

Hey thanks for the great blog, I love this stuff. I don’t usually do much for Earth Day but with everyone going green these days, I thought I’d try to do my part.
I am trying to find easy, simple things I can do to help stop global warming (I don’t plan on buying a hybrid). Has anyone seen that www.EarthLab.com is promoting their Earth Day (month) challenge, with the goal to get 1 million people to take their carbon footprint test in April? I took the test, it was easy and only took me about 2 minutes and I am planning on lowering my score with some of their tips.
I am looking for more easy fun stuff to do. If you know of any other sites worth my time let me know.

I have not been a fan of Wal-mart for quite some time. I don't believe in the way they have put small companies out of business, but at least they are putting forward steps towards a greener image. They offer organic food, clothing made from recycled soda bottles and now free re-usable bags.

Very interesting.
If the economics don't work, recycling and sustainable efforts won't either.
Check http://LivePaths.com a blog about innovative entrepreneurs that make money selling recycled items, provide green services or help us reduce our dependency on non renewable resources. These include some very cool Green nline ventures, great new technologies, startups and investments opportunities.

That is quite cool! I think it is great that companies are charging people for plastic bags now also. Means people might start changing their ways, by reusing them or buying a proper reuseable bag.

Interesting! I don't care for the store very well, but I like the greener image that are trying to set! This may encourage me to shop there more. Great post!

Eco friendly products are becoming more and more prevalent. For instance there are whole lines of eco clothing.
